The Summer visitor not only has an opportunity to explore the region, but also to enjoy this community; with its growing number of trails; Museum and recently restored Piercey Heritage Home; which reflects the lifestyle of mid 20th century outport Newfoundland. With advanced notice, a boat can be hired to explore Bay d'Espoir, and the kayaking enthusiast can explore the many inlets within the relatively sheltered 70 Km (40 mile) fiord that is the Bay. Fishing and hunting also attract many to the region, and it is possible to canoe from this area to the Terra Nova River and the North Coast of the Island with minimal portaging.
Winter offers the opportunity to explore the whole of the central interior of the island portion of the Province. Visitors have traveled to the area, by snow machine, from as far away as Clarenville and Deer Lake. With advanced notice, a guided tour of the region may be arranged. Cross Country ski or snowshoe enthusiasts may also explore the many trails that cris-cross the region. The outdoor enthusiast will find untold opportunities to appreciate the many attractions this community, and the region, has to offer.
